You will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our organization by overseeing the launch of new products and shaping market strategies to ensure sustainable growth and competitive advantage.

Leveraging your extensive experience in product launch strategies and market development, you will lead a dynamic team to execute on our commercial objectives, drive revenue growth, and expand market presence.

Responsible for the development of overall business strategies for both in-market and launch products and the development and execution of the strategic business plans for the Specialty franchises in Gastroenterology (GI) and Uro-Oncology, with the goal of maximizing sales volume, profit, and market share for the strategic brands and products in these therapeutic areas (Pentasa, Firmagon, Rebyota, Adstiladrin etc.

The Business Unit Director (BUD) will have overall accountability for the performance and Business Unit Contribution (BUC) for Specialty, including all related tactics and promotional activities.

This includes leadership of the Marketing and Sales organization for both groups in the Specialty portfolio. Serves as a member of the Ferring Canada Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

Your day at Ferring

Develops and implements the annual business plan for each franchise (GI and Uro-Onc) to achieve sales targets in accordance with the overall corporate objectives.

Directs the development, management, and analysis of all Commercial (Marketing & Sales) functions, including in-line brands and preparation for launch products.

Prepares and positions the Specialty team, in coordination with cross-functional team stakeholders (Medical, Market Access, Regulatory, etc.

to take advantage of business opportunities that are synergistic with developing market opportunities. Including enhancing digital capabilities for in-line brands.

Devises and delivers integrated strategic plans that optimize market share and profitability of existing in-line brands and new launch products.

Partner with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in the development and achievement of short- and long-term company goals and objectives.

Leads the active and productive collaboration between the Commercial Specialty team with other departments including Finance, Logistics, Medical, Regulatory, Compliance, QA, and HR.

Collaborates with Business Intelligence group to ensure high quality and effective analysis to measure sales and marketing outcomes, support data-driven strategic and tactical decisions, and identify viable solutions to address marketing and sales opportunities and initiatives.

Ensures operational excellence across the Specialty business, including optimal delivery of patient-based programs, driving cost and process efficiencies, enabling effectiveness of care, and supporting Commercial and cross-functional outcomes.

Reviews activities, costs, and operations of the Commercial Specialty group to ensure maximum efficiency, including management departmental budgets in a cost-effective manner, including but not limited to travel, promotional materials, trade shows, bonus plans etc.

Leads and oversees as a Role Model the performance and development of the Specialty team, including annual strategy execution, performance management programs (GPS and Check-in) and talent management programs (Individual Development Plan, Talent Review, Succession Plan, etc.

Develop and execute comprehensive product launch strategies, including market positioning, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans, to drive successful product introductions and maximize market penetration.

Establish and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, distributors, and industry influencers, to drive business growth and market expansion.

Monitor and analyze market performance, sales trends, and competitive activity, and develop actionable insights and recommendations to optimize business performance and drive continuous improvement.

Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the commercial team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence

Behind our innovation There’s you

University degree in Pharmacy, a Life Sciences related field, business, marketing, or scientific discipline. Advanced degree (MSc, MBA) with a specialization in business or science, preferred.

10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including both Sales and Marketing experience, as well as progressive leadership responsibilities.

Therapeutic area experience in Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease or Uro-Oncology is highly desirable.

Proven track record of success in commercial leadership roles, with a focus on launching products and shaping markets. Understanding of Market Access function and impact on Marketing and Sales strategies.

Extensive experience in developing and executing product launch strategies, including market analysis, positioning, and go-to-market planning.

Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies and initiatives.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results.

Strategic thinker with a customer-centric mindset and a passion for driving innovation and growth.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines. Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, and when representing Ferring in external partners.

Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within cross functional teams, and across business units.

Strong leadership skills and the ability to encourage employee engagement and accountability.

Ability to accomplish goals and meet deadlines, both in a self-directed manner, and by motivating others to contribute to team objectives.

Exceptional communication skills as well as strong presentation skills

Great organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects, including concurrent demands and resource limitations.

Establishing action plans founded on effective strategic thinking, rigorous planning, and excellence in tactical implementation.

Possesses strong intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office and Teams, CRM, and adept to learn other business software applications)
