Job description

The Oracle Analytics and FDI – Technical Lead role will play a lead role in projects relating to the design and deployment of solutions based on Oracle’s Cloud-based data and analytics platforms including Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW), Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC), Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI). The ideal candidate will have hands on technical development expertise and experience with designing, building, testing and deploying ADW, OAC, ODI and / or FDI. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have prior experience with developing ETL and data pipelines using ODI where Oracle ERP and / or Oracle HCM systems are the primary data sources including Oracle Cloud ERP, Oracle Cloud SCM, Oracle Cloud HCM, Oracle E Business Suite, Peoplesoft and / or JD Edwards. The candidate is also expected to have experience using Oracle Analytics Cloud to create reports, dashboards and visualizations using both OAC Classic and Data Visualization. The candidate is expected to have prior experience with developing semantic models using Oracle’s Client Administration Tool (i.e., experience creating and modifying RPD’s). This role will be expected to play the lead in terms of overall solution design and architecture and it is important for the candidate to have strong communication, presentation and client interaction skills while also having strong hands-on technical skills. This role will also work with end users and IT personnel to identify requirements, develop designs and conduct testing. Although this role is a technical leadership role, it is ideal for the candidate to have prior functional experience and knowledge in one or more of the common analytics domains such as Finance, HR, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales and Marketing. This role is also expected to work with the offshore team of Apps Associates in a collaborative manner to design and build solutions. It is a plus if the candidate has experience with and some understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) and the machine learning lifecycle (although this is not a ‘hard and fast’ requirement for this role).

The candidate is expected to have significant expertise and experience with the technologies, skill sets, design patterns and use cases outlined below. Please note that while it is not necessary to have experience in all of the items outlined below, some level of experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud (or its predecessors) and Oracle Data Integrator is highly desirable.

  • Data warehouse design and data modeling for data warehouses (e.g., star schema)
  • Data lake design patterns and technologies – object-storage based and otherwise
  • Design of data pipelines and ELT-based data integration
  • Security design including SSO and row / data level security

While not required, experience with the technologies, platforms and knowledge domains below is considered a plus :

  • Non Oracle, cloud-based ETL / ELT platforms like Informatica, Talend, Fivetran, Matillion, dbt, Apache Airflow, Stitch, Azure Data Factory, Glue
  • Non Oracle reporting and analytics platforms like Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Thoughtspot, Alteryx
  • Data science and machine learning concepts and processes – especially from a data engineering perspective
  • Prior experience with common, non Oracle corporate data sources such as Salesforce and Workday
  • Prior functional experience and knowledge with any of the following analytics domains :

  • Roles and Responsibilities include :

    The candidate for this role will be working on project delivery in a technical lead capacity. More specifically, outlined below are the roles and responsibilities for this role :

  • Develop overall solution design and architecture potentially covering multiple platforms (e.g., ETL, database, reporting platform)
  • Provide technical expertise regarding Oracle’s Cloud-based data and analytics platforms including OAC, ADW, ODI and FDI
  • Work with end users and IT personnel to identify requirements for data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses and reports / visualizations leveraging Oracle Analytics platforms and technologies (and potentially other platforms and technologies)
  • Develop designs and solution architectures to satisfy the requirements for data pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses or reports / visualizations. This could include development of data models either at the database level or semantic models in Oracle Analytics Cloud.
  • Conduct development and unit testing activities for development of data pipelines and ETL, transformation logic, data lake or data warehouse processing, reports and visualizations.
  • Work with end users during User Acceptance Testing to help resolve issues.
  • Develop technical documentation to describe solution design and key configuration decisions.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer sessions to the client team.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with offshore Apps Associates personnel who are also working on the project.
  • Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in a hands-on technical development role related to Oracle’s Cloud-based analytics platforms including OAC, ADW, ODI and / or FDI. Please note that similar experience with Oracle’s on-premises solutions such as OBIEE or BI Apps can satisfy this requirement.
  • Certifications in OAC, ADW and / or FDI are highly preferable
  • Strategic thinker capable of ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking and able to create innovate technical solutions to complex business problems leveraging modern Cloud-based data platforms
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
