Position : Lab Test Engineer : EMC Compliance , Product Safety ,RF Test and Environmental Test Specialist

Scope :

The Lab test Engineer is a product validation specialist with proven experience in testing protection relay and substation

automation products to radiated, conducted Emission and Immunity and other generic EMC / Environmental standards.

This role is responsible for writing and executing specified tests to IEC, IEEE, FCC and other global requirements to RF emission,

Immunity and EMC / Environmental requirements. You will be part of an accredited laboratory validation team and provide

and partake in its maintenance and improvements.

Key Responsibilities :

To be part of the GEPR Energy Canada test laboratory team, reporting to Engineering Manager.

Primary duties include :

To assist in the wiring and configuration of test systems to improve throughput efficiency for other test engineers

Execute tests to EMC, Safety Environmental and Mechanical tests as per procedures and document results.

Write official test reports according to the accreditation program.

Assist in trouble shooting issues with hardware / firmware engineers with relation to EMC Immunity or Environmental issues.

Handle product safety evaluation tests (UL, CE Low voltage directive testing , UL, EN‐ etc.)

Ensure that all activities are captured and executed according to a scheduling system.

Identify and report defects and issues detected during testing.

Assist in prioritization of reported defects and work with test lead and developers to facilitate closure

Verify resolution of resolved defects

Ensure test records are accurate and complete

Participate in documentation and test procedure reviews

Follow GEPR Energy Canada Inc processes and standards

Be part of the lab accreditation program and assist in its maintenance and improvements

Qualifications / Skills :

Electronic Engineering technologist ,Bachelors / Master’s Degree in electrical engineering

A minimum of years of relevant experience in EMC & Environmental testing and product Safety Testing and report

writing to IEC‐ and IEC‐ and other EMC standards IEC‐‐, IEC‐‐, IEC‐‐, IEC‐

IEC‐‐ / ‐ / ‐, IEC‐‐, IEC‐‐, IEC‐‐, IEC‐‐, IEC‐, IEC‐

CISPR, IEC‐‐ / ‐ / ‐.

RF Emissions and Immunity experience and knowledge is a plus

Good written and oral communication skills.

Good interpersonal skills.

Able to work both as part of a team and independently utilizing sound judgment to make decisions.

Experience with Client Protection & control devices or similar (Preferred)

Experience with Client substation automation products or similar (preferred)

Must demonstrate abilities to coordinate and be well organized to achieve work schedule deadlines.

Must have soldering skills at the component level.

Must show or describe competency in the following PC software applications Excel, Word, Power Point ,PDF writer,

Outlook and experience with CAD software is a strong asset.

Must have experience and skills to schedule meetings in order to achieve effective communications with remote teams.

Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft teams, Skype for business.

Must have skills in operating EMC equipment ESD guns ,EFT, Surge, Magnetic Immunity generators, Dielectric,

Impulse test sets.

Must be able to take accurate measurements with Oscilloscopes, voltmeters, Ammeters, Thermocouples, Spectrum

Analysers, Protection relay test sets such as Doble ,Omicron.

Preferred experience working in an RF Emissions / Immunity environment is required ( or m ) semi ‐ Anechoic, OATS

open area test site) to be qualified for the RF testing along with RF conducted Immunity testing.

Ability to effectively troubleshoot failures in relation to the test and ability to suggest solutions to customer
