What you will do :

  • Serves as the first point of contact for the facility especially with regard to service disruptions.
  • In addition to the essential job functions described below, all employees will perform duties as requested by management.
  • This position is partly customer facing, serving the branch, will call desk, over the phone, carry outs etc.
  • Provide guidance and direction to employees in the performance of tasks to accurately process Inbound and Outbound Shipments.
  • Reviews operational reports not limited to receiving, order filling and shipping functions and identifies improvement opportunities to maximize current operations or plan for operational changes.
  • Possesses the skills to conduct the basic troubleshooting of machinery set or reset. Escalates where appropriate to maintenance lead, service technician, OEM etc.

in order to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

  • Reviews KPIs (key performance indicators), budget and operational expenditures and other general expenditures on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Coordinates with the Distribution Centre Manager technological and human capital plans, work processes and utilization to meet output requirements.
  • Identifies and manages daily priorities.
  • Conducts operational and safety audits.
  • Conducts daily shift huddles.
  • Provides ongoing support, coaching and development of associates including contributing to the establishment of performance objectives, conducting performance discussions, making compensation recommendations, and conducting succession planning and skills development discussions,
  • Ensures associates are across trained.
  • Supports, develops, and trains direct reports on the interpretation and application of all employee programs and procedures, including Health and Safety, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policy.
  • Ensures the promotion of open communication.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, especially section Industrial Regulation 851.
  • Responsible for leading a high-performance team in a result driven environment.
  • Models the way and participates in both active and servant leadership.
  • Coordinate necessary paperwork for employees with the office.
  • Ensure that all freight is processed according to the daily schedule.
  • Coordinate alternate assignments for employees when tasks are completed.
  • Assist employees in researching and resolving process concerns.
  • Promote safe work practices and resolve all safety concerns as identified.
  • Create a motivational work environment to promote top performance of employees.
  • Communicate performance standards and coach employees in assigned duties.
  • Coordinate work activities to ensure efficiency and accuracy of service.
  • Measure, record, and report individual and team performance against standards
  • Provide regular feedback to employees on task performance.
  • Participate in meetings of the Safety Committee to coordinate safety initiatives.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings, safety talks, and warm-up routines as directed.
  • Take leadership in directing, correcting, and recognizing employees on a regular basis.
  • Assist Supervisor in managing departmental or shift operations.
  • Coordinate with Supervisor prompt accident investigation in the event of employee injury or product damage, making sure to complete proper documentation with the employees
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives with employees
  • Assist with employee counseling and performance appraisal as indicated.
  • Responsible for training employees in job duties and providing updates on changes.
  • Perform departmental duties, leading by example in daily performance and conduct.
  • Always represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Abide by all company policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Abide by all company safety rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Support corporate programs, goals, and-initiatives
  • Work overtime as needed.

What you will bring :

  • Previous experience working in an automated warehouse is a definite asset.
  • 7+ years in a high-volume, semi-automated distribution centre supervisory capacity.
  • Excellent understanding of Wolseley Canada SOP of assigned areas.
  • Time management skills including the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask and meet deadlines are essential.
  • Communication skills including the ability to interact with various people within the organization.
  • Leadership presence and value-based conduct.
  • Understanding of WMS and RF / Mobile technology within the DC.
  • Material handling and Powered Industrial Truck experience.
  • Basic operating knowledge of Microsoft Office, applications.
  • Human relations skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to foster and develop teamwork with employees.
  • Excellent math and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of Wolseley Canada policies and procedures.
  • Ability to have CSA approved / green patch safety boots for the first day.
  • Must be able to work in all areas of the MDC as business dictates including the availability to work a variety of shifts in a 6 day / 24-hour environment.
