What is the opportunity?
This newly created Head of Strategy is a key leadership role within RBC Insurance (RBCI), responsible for building and driving strategy and accelerating our ongoing business transformation. Reporting to the Chief Digital, Data & Strategy Officer and serving as a trusted advisor to the Group Head, RBC Insurance, the role includes establishing and reporting on short, medium and long-term business and inorganic growth strategy. Additionally, it includes accountability for leading key strategic projects such as acquisitions, partnerships and various other business transformation initiatives. The Head of Strategy will work cross-functionally within and beyond RBCI to engage the right partners / stakeholders to effectively execute on these accountabilities.
What will you do?
- Lead our annual planning process to monitor, evolve and articulate our corporate strategy, currently known within RBCI as "Realize 2026"
- Lead monthly and quarterly Insurance business reporting (ie. MBR and QBR)
- Establish and oversee a new quarterly business / functional unit QBR protocol and manage corresponding process
- Assess, analyze and synthesize market trends, competitive landscape and industry developments
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and growth areas for individual business units and the broader organization
- Lead development and execution of growth strategy (both organic and inorganic), including M&A and strategic partnerships
- Lead acquisition due diligence, business casing and negotiations
- Lead integration planning and execution for acquisitions
- For each acquired entity, set and achieve targets aligned to the relevant investment thesis and report on performance and integration status to Insurance Operating Committee and other RBC leaders.
- Collaborate with internal teams, partners and stakeholders to support business transformation within RBC Insurance and across the enterprise
What do you need to succeed?
Must-Have :
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related fieldMinimum of 10 years of total business experience, with at least 5 of those years leading and building business strategyProven track record of successfully leading strategic projects, including acquisitions and partnershipsStrong analytical, financial, and strategic thinking skillsAbility to lead others effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, engaging colleagues on the front line and executive suite with easeAbility to quickly understand the Canadian insurance sector and regulatory environmentNice to Have :
