Job description

REPORTS TO : Director of Economic Development & Tourism LOCATION : Initial Placement – Wincey Mills Responsibilities / Duties : Update the County of Brant's Business Directory including managing data content on the County's internal mapping system as well as updating the division's internal Contact Management System Assist Economic Development Staff with projects and research Undertaking an inventory and assessment of business parks, downtown businesses, hamlets and agricultural businesses Confirm and take updated pictures of County of Brant assets (both land and buildings) Promote various services / events that the division provides to the business community through the business directory visits such as Business Retention & Expansion Program, Salute to Brant Business Conduct market research as appropriate Provide support to partner agencies and organizations with networking events Undertake research and generate reports on various economic development topics such as business retention and expansion programs, investment attraction and downtown revitalization Provide additional support during the reconstruction of Grand River Street North. Working with the Downtown and Visitor ambassadors, the Business Inventory and Asset Coordinator Student will engage with the people who live, work, and are visiting the area, and will be educating, engaging, and connecting people to services, resources, and tourist attractions in the County of Brant. Providing event support and assisting the Visitor Ambassadors with operating the tourism information center when needed Other duties as assigned Knowledge / Skills Required : Understanding of municipal government Basic understanding of communication best practices  Basic understanding of real estate and economic development High level of computer skills : Microsoft Office Suite and social media Ability to work remotely Ability to work with minimal supervision Customer relationship management skills would be an asset  Valid class G driver’s license and use of a vehicle with acceptable driver’s abstract is required Ability to work evenings and weekends when required Education :   Post- secondary focus in Business Commerce or Economic Development would be preferred.
