Job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for a Senior Project Design Manager in Calgary. Our client is a real estate development, construction, and management company that builds residential and commercial properties across Canada and the United States. They manage a diverse portfolio of rental properties and invest in real estate assets for sustainable returns.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new product and material research, innovation, and design implementation on assigned residential low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise, or mixed-use projects as per the Business Plan, based on market research and customer expectations.
  • Manage the design development process for new projects, including building typology, community and design visioning, product mix, and design from initiation of concept to sales launch.
  • Support the development of contract documents (drawings and specifications), ensuring continuity of the design vision through to tender, construction, and warranty processes.
  • Collaborate with peers and internal / external stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and optimized value proposition is delivered to Minto customers on assigned projects; perform document reviews and site visits to improve product features and reduce construction complexity and cost.
  • Develop, manage, and report on project budgets and schedules; manage external consultant RFP and contract processes, including monthly reporting; support acquisition efforts, including masterplan, feasibility studies, and pro-forma efforts; establish and maintain relationships with peers and trades.

Requirements

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Architecture
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of previous professional experience in project management, design development process residential and / or mixed-use projects
  • Previous experience leading a team
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and other relevant regulations
  • Knowledge of residential low-rise, mid-rise, high-rise, or mixed-use building systems / assemblies and construction methodologies
  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Project is an asset)
