About the Role

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining the entire payroll program at the division, ensuring all necessary documents and changes made are in compliance with legislated requirements and employee handbook.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing and verifying changes made to the salaried and hourly payroll.
  • Reviews and verifies accurate employee data transfers from Workday to Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Performs weekly analysis and triage of employee timecard data to ensure accuracy, provide coaching with supervisor / manager team when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to employee and management payroll inquiries, liaisons with Corporate Payroll Shared Service Centre to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Assist in resolving pay adjustments and payroll issues.
  • Manage Ceridian Dayforce time & attendance management system.
  • Assist with data analysis and pay coordination of Employee Equity and Profit Participation Program.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for the Payroll and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Assist with the calculation and preparation of periodic reports for Operations Team as necessary.
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and tact in handling confidential matters.

Who we are looking for

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field
  • 1-3 years of work-related experience, preferably supporting payroll functions in large organizations
  • Successful completion of accredited payroll program
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation and employment standards
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation an asset
