Summary

This position carries out a number of general and specialized labouring tasks as well as ongoing maintenance. This position also provides routine information to visitors and patrols park areas to assist with ensuring the safety and security of park visitors and the protection of natural park environments and park facilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs day to day maintenance components and regular operational work.
• Continually identifies, assesses and makes recommendations to mitigate potential park and trail risks and concerns.
• Responsible for routine clean-up of all park facilities and grounds.
• Assists with developing priorities by planning, organizing and implementing daily, weekly and seasonal work tasks and schedules.
• Patrols and inspects park areas for cleanliness, hazards, repairs, security and park protection.
• Picks up and disposes of garbage, litter and debris and cleans and removes graffiti.
• Cleans and opens washrooms and facilities and re-stocks as required.
• Assists in construction and maintenance of park facilities and grounds, ensuring all work is performed in a safe manner in accordance with WorkSafe BC and safety regulations.
• Monitors parks and trail conditions and conducts necessary repairs and maintenance as required.
• Performs routine vegetation management and routine re-vegetation.
• Provides information to park visitors and enforces park regulations as required in a positive, courteous and professional manner.
• Assists with bylaw enforcement by investigating and reporting bylaw infractions.
• Liaises with CRD Bylaw Enforcement Officers to exchange bylaw information.
• Ensures accurate and timely completion of various recording and reporting forms.
• Assists park user groups with special event set-up requirements and conducts site inspections.
• Assists other staff and works cooperatively with volunteers and partners.
• Operates a variety of CRD vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
• Performs other related duties as required.
