Early Childhood Educator (ECE)
Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated ECE to implement the Flower Patch Kids program. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with children, committed to continuous learning and growth, and confident in independently leading a program.
As an adventure and nature inspired school, we are looking for someone who is equally excited about outdoor learning and exploration. This role offers full creative freedom to design and lead the program (how fun is that!) while contributing to the ongoing development and vision of our nature-based curriculum through your creativity, passion, and leadership.
Hours:
- Core hours are 8am-5:30pm ( hrs) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with potential to adjust to consecutive days in the future.
- This role also provides coverage for scheduled time off and/or sick days for the Tues & Thurs staff, when able.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and nature-based learning experiences.
- Facilitate daily activities, providing a safe and nurturing environment for children.
- Ensure the health and safety of all children in care, following proper procedures and guidelines, and maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and well-being.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.
- Foster inclusion by nurturing a sense of belonging, ensuring each child’s unique identity, abilities, and background are celebrated and meaningfully represented in the program
- Adventure Days: On Wednesdays and Fridays, you will lead our Adventure Days alongside a practicum student and the Owner/Operator of Flower Patch. These days offer full creative freedom to explore locations that inspire you and the children. Our current favorites include Elk Lake, Thetis Lake, Francis King Park, Mount Doug, and more. Preference is given to applicants with a Class 5 license who are interested in leading Adventure Days independently (higher wage). If you do not currently drive or do not feel ready to lead independently, the Owner/Operator will join and support the program. If you later take on Adventure Days independently, a wage increase will follow.
Qualifications:
- ECE certification, with preference for applicants with Special Needs, Inclusive Practices, or related specialization
- First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Class 5 Drivers license preferred
- Reliable and responsible, with the ability to lead a program independently.
- Strong leadership skills, with the potential to take on expanded responsibilities as the program grows
- Experience working with young children in a childcare setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passionate about working with children and dedicated to their well-being and development.
Renumeration:
- $30-35/hour depending on experience, inclusive of Wage Enhancement
How to Apply: If you are passionate about working with children and eager to contribute to a supportive and inspired childcare program, we would love to hear from you!
