Position : Temporary Full Time Treatment Counsellor

Location : Various Kingston Community Settings

Dates of Vacancy : February 23, 2026 – various lengths

Hours of Work : 80 guaranteed hours per pay (biweekly)

Wage : Hourly : Start – $30.63; 6 Months – $31.17; One Year – $31.63

Position Description

Provide specialized, empirically‑based, outcome‑driven supports as part of a multidisciplinary team for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses and / or challenging behaviour. Work under the direction of the Supervisor‑Specialized Accommodations & Intensive Supports and support persons in a specialized transitional treatment home and / or long‑term specialized accommodation. Serve as primary counsellor for selected individuals and collaborate with families, agencies and other team members using a bio‑psycho‑social model.

Duties

Direct care with persons served :

• Incorporate health promotion, harm reduction, trauma‑informed care, cultural sensitivity and anti‑stigma approaches; recognize the social determinants of health.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including feeding, dressing, bathing, ambulation and toileting.
• Observe and report any unusual physical or behavioural symptoms.
• Complete ongoing data collection, recording and analysis relating to behaviour, skill acquisition, seizure activity, temperature, weight and specimen collection.
• Be alert to changes in a person’s condition, take appropriate action and report to the Supervisor and relevant professionals (nurse, physician, psychiatrist, psychologist).
• Accompany persons to professional appointments and implement recommendations.
• Transcribe physician orders.
• Monitor, prepare and administer medication per prescribed instructions with high accuracy.
• Perform CPR and first‑aid as required.
