Building automation systems (BAS) Technician

The Maintenance Services Department of the Simcoe County District School

Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Building Automation

Systems (BAS) Technician. Reporting to the BAS Supervisor, the BAS Technician

will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing emergency,

preventative, and planned installation / upgrading of Building Automation Systems

throughout the Simcoe County District School Board as required to meet

operational needs. This position is required to work on-call in a rotational

sequence on a schedule as determined by the supervisor, utilizing the Building

Automation System to troubleshoot and address BAS alarms as well as other

emergencies as they arise.

Qualifications

and Skills Required

1. Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification - Electrician,

or Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Mechanic (HVAC / HVAC-R), or Gas

Technician (G1) is mandatory to be considered for this position.

2. Ability to read, write and interpret electrical and

mechanical drawings and schematics.

3. Experience with troubleshooting BAS, HVAC,

plumbing, gas, and hydronic heating systems, as well as associated auxiliary equipment and controls.

4. Knowledge in the components and control

sequences of boilers, chillers, air handlers, hot water heating system

components, DDC controls.

5. Experience with computer software / hardware and file

management.

6. Experience reading basic language programming.

7. Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational

and time management skills.

8. Computer literacy and experience sufficient to operate

Facility Services Computerized Maintenance Work Order System.

9. Preference will be given to candidates who have a

  • working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS);

10. Ability to work

effectively and cooperatively as a team member in a multi-disciplined team and

with staff, students, and public.

11. A valid Ontario

Drivers Licence is a requirement and proof thereof will be requested on hiring.
