Job Description
The Epic Education Specialist will be responsible for delivering instructor-led Epic hospital information system (HIS) training courses to diverse clinical and non-clinical end-user groups, each with varying levels of experience and technical skills. The Epic Education Specialist will collaborate closely with HIS project team members for development and maintenance of training curriculum and training materials. This role is part of the HIS project structure, with a key responsibility to design, deliver and sustain our systems to address both clinical and non-clinical needs, ensuring the HIS is utilized effectively and efficiently in patient care.
Accountabilities :
- Deliver instructor-led Epic HIS training to diverse clinical and non-clinical end-user groups (e.g., lab techs, porters, allied health professionals, nurses, pharmacists, registration, and finance staff etc.), each with varying levels of experience and technical skills
- Deliver and present curriculum content in a clear and engaging manner, ensuring that participants are actively engaged and grasp the concepts
- Prepare training lessons, print materials, and set up the training room and environment prior to the training session
- Adhere to training delivery standards, templates, and processes
- Identifies system knowledge level of users / students to appropriately provide assistance and facilitate training activities
- Adapt training techniques to accommodate different learning styles and skill levels, making the learning experience interactive, effective, and accessible to all participants
- Collaborate with other Epic Education Specialist by co-facilitating classroom instruction and assisting as needed
- Collaborate with training team and application team for development and maintenance of training materials such as classroom information sheets, PowerPoint slides, quick start guides and tip sheets based on updates, system upgrades, and class participant feedback
- Facilitate hands-on exercises and simulations to reinforce practical skills and boost confidence in using Epic
- Facilitate completion of learning assessments for learners. Follow up with learners outside of the classroom to offer additional support if needed based on learning assessment results
- Create and maintain documentation to build a repository of key configuration decisions and associated build
- Facilitate and participate in meetings to discuss deliverables, issues, end user concerns and upcoming milestones
- Work closely with team members to identify, document, and troubleshoot issues to find creative resolutions
- Work extended hours (Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends) as required
Qualifications
One or more years of experience in adult training / education and delivering training in a classroom setting is preferredBachelor’s degree or college diploma or equivalent years of experience is an assetPrevious experience in a health care organization and hospital operations is an assetPrevious experience training in a modernized HIS is an assetSuccessfully complete Credentialed Trainer training prior to delivering instructor-led trainingExperience with training platforms and instructional design software is an assetDemonstrating adaptability and flexibility with respect to required changes in training content and delivery methodsPresentation skills in classroom and virtual type settingsStrong understanding of hospital workflows in either clinical or non-clinical areas is an assetDemonstrated critical thinking skills and, strong organizational skillsStrong communication skills, both verbally and written, including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a classroom or virtual settingDemonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote) requiredAbility to learn and quickly master new software and systems, demonstrating technical aptitudeAbility to work in an agile environment to deliver an HIS that meets end user needsAbility to work independently and in collaboration with a team to meet HIS project milestones and ensure successful project deliveryAbility to analyze user requirements and produce creative solutions to meet end user needsAbility and willingness to support project success in a manner that goes beyond completion of assigned tasksAbility to persevere in a high intensity project to overcome obstacles and difficult situations within a time sensitive implementationMust demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and CollaborationAdditional Information
Hours : Currently days / evenings (subject to change with operational needs)
Salary : Minimum : $72,189.00
Maximum : $90,246.00
