Let’s help you launch your career with Alberta Veterinary Laboratories (“AVL/Solvet”)! We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team on-site in our Calgary facility working 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday).

THE ROLE

The Accounts Payable Clerk supports the finance operations of a Canadian pharmaceutical manufacturing organization by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of vendor invoices and payments. This role requires strong attention to detail, thorough documentation practices, and compliance with Canadian accounting standards, tax legislation, and regulated manufacturing requirements.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Process invoices related to raw materials, packaging components, laboratory supplies, equipment, utilities, and contract manufacturing services
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation in accordance with internal controls and GMP requirements
  • Verify pricing, quantities, and tax accuracy, including GST/HST, PST, and QST, as applicable
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with Procurement, Quality, and vendors
  • Prepare and process payments via cheque, EFT/ACH, and wire transfer
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready vendor master data, including approved supplier documentation
  • Reconcile vendor statements and accounts payable subledgers
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities in accordance with ASPE
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company financial policies
  • Respond to vendor inquiries while maintaining professional relationships with regulated suppliers
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing complete and traceable documentation
  • Other duties as required

IDEAL FIT

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred
  • 3 plus years of accounts payable or general accounting experience, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or regulated manufacturing environments

Skills and Attributes

  • Solid understanding of accounts payable processes and internal controls
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional handling of confidential and sensitive financial information
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal Record Check

  • WHMIS

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • On-site in SE Calgary
  • GMP compliant facility
  • 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday)
  • Working on site where pharmaceutical ingredients are stored and compounding occurs.
