EIPS requires individuals to work on a casual on-call basis as substitute Educational Assistants. We are looking to increase substitute support to all school locations for the 2025-2026 school year.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

Educational Assistants (EAs) assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities. EAs work as members of the school and student support team. EAs either work with a particular special needs student or a group of students within a class or in a special program. EAs may provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.

Life of an Educational Assistant at EIPS

Duties will include:

• working with students individually or in small groups
• working with students with disabilities
• lifts, transfers, and personal care of students may be required

Education/Experience

1. Requirement: High School Diploma
2. Candidates having the following qualifications would be considered an asset:

• training or experience working with students with disabilities
• behaviour management training
• courses related to working with students with special needs
• excellent interpersonal skills
• the ability to work with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher
• the ability to provide personal care for students
• Emergency First Aid and CPR
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training
• Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education
