About The Opportunity
Cardiovascular Health Nova Scotia (CVHNS) mission is to improve cardiovascular health and care of Nova Scotians with a focus on acute coronary syndromes, heart failure, transient ischemic attack and stroke. The CVHNS Abstractor / Health Record Technician reports to the Manager, Health Information Services, Coding & Abstracting and is responsible for the accurate identification, interpretation and recording of data from inpatient charts with appropriate cardiovascular diagnoses. These data form the basis for provincial monitoring and surveillance of cardiovascular disease. The Technician reviews and interprets clinical documentation and collects data using criteria and guidelines outlined in the CVHNS Abstracting Manual, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the data collected and maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information.

Compensation and Benefits
Hourly rate : $29.44 – $31.57. Eligible for the Nova Scotia Health benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
