Includes recruiting and hiring qualified employees and ensuring they receive training. Maintains a motivational work environment through goal-setting, operating principles, communication, and fair treatment. Takes action to correct poor performance or behavior as needed to protect the team and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Meet all production and distribution objectives and deadlines within the established budget. Teach, coach and demonstrate work activities for team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary functions.
- Coordinate, assign, and review work; direct staff on priority of work to be accomplished.
- Ensure all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, proper use of equipment, performance standards, disciplinary processes and other company policies.
- Maintain timely, effective, and professional communications with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Maintain records and perform administrative duties as required.
- Report accidents or incidents; complete reports promptly and forward to the Operations Manager within 24 hours.
- Monitor working conditions to ensure safety; take timely corrective and disciplinary action as needed.
- Apply problem solving techniques to resolve personnel and quality issues (examples: 8D; 5 Why; Kaizen).
- Perform other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Plant Manager.
- Meet the employee attributes/competencies expected by thyssenkrupp Materials NA.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent; basic math and reading skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Interpersonal skills to communicate with plant manager, sales staff, and warehouse personnel.
- Ability to understand equipment and tolerances from past experience and successful performance.
- Warehouse experience with forklift, packing and measuring.
- Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills; can come from any relevant context.
Preferred- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years supervisory experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of metals handling, staging, processing, packaging and shipping.
- First aid and CPR training.
- Exposure to labor relations, safety programs, ISO standards, lean practices and sales.
