The Senior Operations Manager provides leadership in the organization or functional area and is primarily engaged in management activities that establish the direction of a department, function, or project. The position requires the application of knowledge gained from experience and expertise to the job duties and responsibilities. The position will make decisions in areas that may impact the organization and its employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs.

This position directs the profitable operations in an assigned country sales, service, rental, parts, and fleet / site services support. This position is directly or indirectly responsible for all members in the assigned geographic area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all assigned assets to meet maximum operating return on assets (OROA) and customer needs; responsibility for total profitability; ensure set goals are met or exceeded.
  • Instill a strong customer focus culture; personally develop close relationships with major customers.
  • Assist in marketing and sales strategies, proposal presentations, and project alignment sessions.
  • Assist in the development of project execution plans and project staffing for site and fleet services.
  • Ensure that proper procedures are followed in executing and charging for services, materials, tools, and equipment, and ensure the timely collection of all past due accounts.
  • Maintain and promote good member relations by consistently applying Human Resource, Safety, and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Typically manage personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities, and timely performance feedback.
  • Leverage internal and external resources to administer policies and procedures consistently across all business lines, functions, and locations.
  • Analyze situations, identify, and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend / implement appropriate courses of action.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job.
  • May need to travel to attend to business-related matters.
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field of study; and eleven years of experience in business, or
  • A combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen (15) years.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience required; two (2) years preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences including management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state / province, and federal statutes and guidelines.
  • Eleven (11) years of experience in the construction equipment industry preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in management, profit / loss.
  • Skilled in multi-function managing for multiple locations within a large region.
  • Mathematical / budgeting aptitude.
  • Experience in sales bids and presentations to clients.
  • Extensive knowledge of the equipment industry, competitors, and trends.
  • Must know all aspects of the company's business, business goals, and ability to serve its clients.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computer-based business applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate a team and improve work processes.
  • Certifications

  • Relevant certifications in project management preferred.

  • Physical Demands / Requirements

  • Individuals may be required to frequently sit / drive stand, walk, lift / carry, reach, stoop, push / pull, handle / grasp / feel, talk, hear, engage in repetitive motions, and demonstrate eye / hand / foot coordination.
  • Close vision is required for this job.
  • Employees may be required to occasionally lift, carry, and / or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
  • Work Environment

  • Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and / or :
  • Occasionally may require exposure to production / manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or hard hats. The noise level in the production / manufacturing areas is usually loud.
  • Often required to work at a fast pace to meet deadlines, thus some stress may occur.
  • Environmental conditions may include occasional exposure to heat, temperature changes, noise, and humidity.
  • Occasionally the performance of this position will require exposure to production / manufacturing areas, which may result in being near moving mechanical parts or being exposed to fumes or airborne particles. These respective areas will require the use of personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, or hard hats. The noise level in these areas is usually loud.
  • Frequent travel is required for business-related matters.
