Job description

Position : Project Cost Control Specialist

Location : Vancouver, British Columbia & Site

Brunel is seeking a Project Cost Control Specialist for a mining project in British Columbia. This role will focus on supporting the implementation of project cost control processes and systems, ensuring effective cost management throughout the project lifecycle. The position will involve working closely with the project team and reporting to the Project Controls Manager. The role is initially based in Vancouver, with rotation to the site once the project moves into the construction phase. Previous experience in project cost control within the mining sector is preferred.

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure safety and environmental protocols are adhered to and championed across the project.
  • Develop and manage project cost control plans and ensure they are in line with project procedures and guidelines.
  • Oversee project budgeting, accruals, and cost data management through a cost management system.
  • Ensure the work breakdown structure and associated cost elements are accurately tracked and reported.
  • Review invoices and manage financial aspects of project changes and trends.
  • Generate cost forecasts, progress reports, and cash flow documentation as required.
  • Monitor and apply change management processes for any adjustments in the project’s scope or cost.
  • Interface with accounting / finance teams to support project financials and reporting.
  • Support improvements to project cost control practices through continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Requirements :

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of project cost control experience, with a focus on industrial or mining projects.
  • At least 3 years in a client-side or Owner’s role with hands-on field experience.
  • Solid understanding of project management and cost control principles.
  • Familiarity with cost control systems and scheduling software (e.g., Unifier, Primavera).
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCP, PEng) are beneficial.
