We are looking for an experienced and innovative Director of AI Product Management to lead the development and delivery of AI-driven solutions. This role serves as the technical product owner of Schwab’s AI platform, acting as a bridge between business stakeholders, technical teams, and data science experts. This role is critical to delivering AI-powered innovation from ideation to production.

The ideal candidate is both technically proficient and business-savvy, with a deep understanding of AI technologies, product management principles, and user-centered design.

This position reports to the Managing Director, Head of AI and Personalization, and plays a pivotal role in shaping Schwab’s AI strategy and execution.

Reporting into this role will be a team that has a cross-functional approach to AI strategy, governance, and execution. This leader will be responsible for overseeing these functions to drive AI adoption, manage risk, scale AI infrastructure, and identify new business opportunities powered by artificial intelligence.

As Director of AI Product Management, you will :

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Schwab’s AI platform in alignment with business and technology goals.
  • Serve as the technical product owner, ensuring AI solutions are designed, built, and deployed effectively to meet enterprise needs.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, data science, risk management, and business teams to deliver AI-powered solutions.
  • Own and manage the AI platform’s product backlog, defining, prioritizing, and refining user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities into Schwab’s broader technology ecosystem while maintaining scalability, security, and compliance.
  • Identify AI-driven business opportunities and work closely with stakeholders to develop impactful use cases.
  • Stay ahead of emerging AI technologies and best practices, continuously evaluating new advancements for potential adoption.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What you have

Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, AI / ML, business, or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical product management, with at least 3 years in AI or machine learning initiatives.
  • Must have 5+ years of direct people management (they reported directly to you, not dotted line or cross functional)
  • Deep technical understanding of AI / ML, including natural language processing (NLP), generative AI, model evaluation, and prompt engineering.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in agile development environments.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into scalable AI solutions.
  • Strong familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and AI / ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, etc.).
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive alignment across multiple teams.
  • Experience managing AI governance, risk, and compliance considerations in an enterprise environment.
  • A passion for AI innovation and the ability to foster an environment that encourages experimentation and learning.

    • Preferred :

  • Experience in a product or business role working on Generative AI applications.
  • Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI / ML, or other quantitative discipline.
  • 5+ years of working in AI / ML in a client facing enterprise environment.
