Under the direction of the Fleet Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of a maintenance department and the supervision of a team responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of fleet. Ensure all repairs and / or maintenance to equipment (diesel fleet, alternate fuel, containers, and other heavy-duty equipment) is performed in accordance with Company safety and compliance standards, and with all federal / state regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity. Follow up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel.
- Supervise, coach, train, evaluate employee performance or behavior; provide input into hiring, disciplinary action, terminations, compensation, and promotion decisions
- Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks
- Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with Company’s safety and compliance procedures and federal / state regulations; follow up where appropriate
- Track issues and conduct Quality Control Inspections (QCI’s)
- Plan and schedule repairs in M5 planner and procure all parts for successful plan.
- Analyze the quality and effectiveness of the work performed
- Oversee repair diagnostics on more complex matters
- Conduct road test on equipment as necessary
- Assist with inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget
- Review and approve expenses that are within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager
- Maintain knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by Company, both on site and on the road
- Update and submit required reports in a timely manner
- Manage related administrative matters for team, including payroll, employee records, records of all preventive and corrective maintenance performed, recording of all information into Company maintenance software
- Maintain open communication with other departments and leadership to ensure fluid and effective operations
- Assist in preparation and submittal of budget
- Introduce departmental goals and performance objectives established by District and Corporate leadership
- Ensure the cleanliness of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs
- Conduct and / or attend periodic driver / safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote morale, productivity, and efficiency

Position is full-time, exempt. Days and hours of work are Monday-Saturday, regularly requiring long hours and occasional weekends and holidays as job duties demand.
Work Environment
The Maintenance Supervisor may work in various weather conditions. May be exposed to unpleasant sights and smells, such as exhaust fumes, gasoline, diesel fuel, and other dangerous and / or toxic substances or chemicals. Working around moving parts / objects, vehicles, machinery with moving parts.
