Job description

Overview

At Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, Occupational Therapists do more than assist with recovery, they empower patients to regain independence while navigating complex challenges. In this rehabilitative and complex care setting, you’ll have the time and resources to achieve meaningful progress with patients who need long-term, functional solutions. You’ll also have opportunities for professional growth, whether through participation in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives or contributing to Practice Council meetings that influence best practices. As an academic teaching hospital, we are deeply committed to advancing learning, research, and innovation in patient care while contributing to the development of a broad range of health professionals. You’ll work within an interdisciplinary team where OT expertise directly informs care decisions, giving you the collaboration and clinical depth needed to make a real impact every day.

This position is within our Central Therapy Department, offering you the opportunity to support various units within our hospital.

Is this you?

Are you adaptable and resourceful when it comes to patient care? In a rehabilitative and complex care setting, you will encounter unique challenges daily. Your ability to think on your feet and modify therapy approaches based on patient progress and needs will be crucial, allowing you to create tailored interventions that truly resonate with your patients.

You’re a compassionate listener who understands the importance of empathy within therapy. In this role, you will build trust with patients by actively listening and incorporating their feedback into treatment plans. By treating each patient with the utmost respect and valuing their unique experiences, you create a safe environment where individuals feel understood and empowered, helping to drive better outcomes within the rehabilitation journey.

If you are an independent thinker who excels in an interdisciplinary setting, this role is for you.

In this role you will:

  • Assess, develop and implement occupational therapy treatment interventions utilizing sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based practices
  • Collaborate with interprofessional team to develop comprehensive care plans, transition planning and engage in patient education as required
  • Supervise Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) in the delivery of Occupational therapy care plan
  • Actively participate in team meetings to support patient care activities such as daily huddles, team rounds and family meetings
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in alignment with college and hospital standards
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Job Requirements

Mandatory

  • University degree from a recognized Occupational Therapy Program
  • Currently registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Demonstrated satisfactory job performance and attendance history

If this sounds like you and you feel ready to build your career within occupational therapy, apply now and let us know why you’d be a great addition to our team.

Employment at Sinai Health is conditional upon the verification of credentials, completion of a health review, and demonstrating proof of immunity and vaccination status of vaccine-preventable diseases.
