Job description

LeverageTek is actively seeking a System Administrator for a 1-year contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Work Location

Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite

Security Requirement

Must have a Government of Canada Secret Clearance.

Key Tasks

  • Install, configure and maintain all hardware and software as necessary.
  • Participate in technology research in the lab with the testing and evaluation of hot fixes and develop recommendations for improvements to the overall infrastructure.
  • Configure, maintain and monitor system information, devices and application servers.
  • Perform regular monitoring to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues including communication failures.
  • Assist in the enrolment of new users of systems, as required.
  • Define and manage access rights; provide system and application access privileges for users.
  • Apply service packs / hot fixes.
  • Monitor and research current information technology trends, threats, issues or technology developments .
  • Ensure cross-training of personal knowledge on IT system maintenance and support skills.
  • Coordinate and deliver new application components and updates for existing and new in-house COTS applications.

Key Qualifications

  • A minimum of Five years experience in Microsoft Windows environment and systems administration.
  • Experience configuring, deploying, maintaining and / or supporting multiple systems
  • Experience in database administration and support tools.

  • Knowledge of BioConnect : Configuration, deployment, maintenance, and support :
  • Knowledge of Bosh : Configuration, deployment, maintenance, and support :

    • Additional qualifications :

  • Knowledge of web administration and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot; think creatively and problem-solve.
  • Experience in an advisory capacity, providing recommendations to management and / or clients
  • Experience supporting high availability applications.
  • Experience testing and validating new systems in a lab environment and conducting implementation of new systems in a live environment.
  • Knowledge of data management techniques including data security and disaster recovery systems and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of release techniques and procedures including version control.
