Job description

City Experiences is seeking a Server for our City Cruises operation in Gananoque.

About You :

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences’ RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity :

The successful Server is technically competent in serving food and beverages, is hospitable and cordial to guests and coworkers, acts safely and responsibly, and is knowledgeable about the company and local attractions. The server will be aware of the vessel schedule, embarkment times and how this affects dining periods. The server will facilitate an amazing experience for their guests, be favorably viewed by supervisors and peers, and be swift and efficient in the execution of their assigned duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Provide exceptional hospitality to guests and coworkers as prescribed in our RESPECT Service System.
  • Greet guests and serve food and beverages in a timely fashion.
  • Accurately take orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system, following all recipes as set out by the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all common areas and service stations.
  • Participate in the celebration and entertainment experience of the guest.
  • Set up and break down dining room and service stations as prescribed; this requires movement of dining and patio furniture.
  • Accurately collect payment from guests for purchases, issues change, and receipts as required.
  • Provide information to guests including food & beverage menu descriptions, daily food and beverage features, and understand common allergies.
  • Is aware of vessel schedule, embarkment periods, local attractions, and upcoming events and entertainment to prepare for peak dining periods.
  • Assist in routine cleaning of dining room / patio, including daily cleaning of equipment, preparation stations, stock rooms, staff areas, staff washrooms and mopping floors.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, and practicing all City Cruses Gananoque policies and procedures.
  • Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time.
  • Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
  • Assist with the warm and efficient greeting and seating of guests when they arrive.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor on duty.
  • Requirements & Qualifications :

  • or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education.
  • One (1) year experience in high volume restaurant preferred.
  • Responsible alcohol service requirements - Smart Serve Certification required.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential.
  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers.
  • Must possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Will work for extended periods without sitting.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 40 lbs (18 kgs).
  • Will be required to be available for work on all major holidays and weekends.
  • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ( non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection).
