KGS Group seeks a Senior Bridge Lead to join our growing Transportation Department in Winnipeg.
The Role
KGS Group seeks a Senior Bridge Lead in our Winnipeg office. Reporting to the Head of Transportation, this position will be responsible for leading bridge projects for clients that include Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure, the City of Winnipeg, a broad range of urban and rural municipalities and the private sector. This role will work closely with design and construction staff in the Transportation Department.
The successful candidate will have the ability to lead, develop, manage and motivate an emerging team of engineers, technicians and scientist with a focus on large- and small-scale bridge projects throughout Canada, focusing on opportunities across the Prairies and Northwestern Ontario. The successful candidate will have the ability to lead projects within a team environment and showcase their creative side to positively impact transport mobility in the world around them. The successful candidate will have the freedom and flexibility to build and grow their own team with the potential opportunity for an expanded role beyond Manitoba and the Prairies in alignment with the future growth goals of the KGS Transportation Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, manage, and motivate an emerging team of engineers, technicians and scientists with a focus on bridge projects both large and small scale.
- Produce, supervise, and manage engineering deliverables on a variety of bridge rehabilitation projects as well as new projects.
- Perform complex engineering tasks independently and in accordance with industry standards, best practices and specifications while leading and mentoring a growing team in support of this pursuit.
- Prepare and check detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, technical reports, quantities and cost estimates, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses.
- Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the company to execute projects.
- Perform inspections of existing bridges and other structures including coordinating and leading inspection teams and specialized sub-consultants, providing renewal and repair recommendations, and completing life cycle cost analyses.
- Develop and build a successful portfolio of bridge related transportation projects through development of winning proposal submissions.
- Perform project management duties including assembling & managing project teams, controlling project budgets & schedules, controlling quality of deliverables, interacting with clients, and reporting financial status.
- Train, coach, supervise, and mentor junior staff with their career growth and professional development.

About You
Some ideal qualifications could include :
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Structural EngineeringRegistration as a Professional Engineer with EGM.8 years or more of recent bridge engineering experience, including inspection, condition assessment, analysis, load-rating, design, technical report writing, and construction (Preferably in Manitoba).Extensive practical working knowledge of CAN / CSA-S6 CHBDC, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, and other relevant industry codes and standardsStrong project management, leadership, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills, and ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers.Experience working directly with clients and managing / fostering existing relationships in addition to forming new ones.Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce, review, and delegate technical reports, proposals and other forms of non-formal written communication.Entrepreneurial mindset and propensity for business development will be considered a strong asset for this role.Preference is given to candidates with existing relationships and / or previous experience with City of Winnipeg and Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure.About Us
