The Program
Taproot Community Support Services (formerly WJS Canada) works to improve the lives of persons in their communities through a variety of programs and services. Orca House provides culturally-based programming, support and safe, home-based accommodations for youth in the care of Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). The resource is a staffed 24‑hour resource providing a long‑term therapeutic placement for up to 3 children or youth. The resource supports children or youth who have experienced trauma, are addressing adverse childhood experiences and / or overcoming other adversities. The program staff will network with and work alongside a team of professionals supporting the youth in many life domains such as education, mental health, physical health, recreation and life skills.
The Position
We are currently hiring for the following roles, in a casual / on‑call capacity, with the opportunity to apply for part‑time and full‑time positions as they become available :
Once hired, casual / on‑call employees are contacted to work a variety of shifts (based on availability) to cover staff illness, LOA, vacation, etc. located in Parksville, BC.

Successful applicants will be required to participate in MCFD screening prior to confirmed employment with Taproot Community Support Services.
Applicants will be required to provide three (3) professional references that Taproot Community Support Services can contact in a timely manner at time of interview.
