Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Manager, Beet Supply at its Taber Processing Plant. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for managing the overall agricultural beet supply activities, including maximizing recoverable sugar per acre and coordinating the logistical movement of sugar beets for processing. The Manager, Beet Supply will also manage and provide direction to the Agriculturists for production and a high‑quality beet crop, develop and maintain relationships with sugar beet growers while compiling and maintaining the Beet Receiving operating budget.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO Will :
Provide safety leadership to the Agriculturist team;Verify ASBG beet acreage alignment with Lantic requested acreage;Ensure new crop beet seed requirements for crop production and customer beet sugar supply;Regulate sugar beet production with grower contracting, seed distribution, field measuring, enforcement of contracted acreage, crop reporting, and productions statistics;Engage in a cross‑functional relationship with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement, Finance, Safety and Human Resources departments with regards to beet processing, beet storage / delivery operations, service, material purchases, and personnel requirements;]Manage beet supply to factory with Chinook transport and operations;Develop and identify cost savings;Maximize production of a high‑quality sugar beet crop to achieve required sugar production;Collect and compile production records, pesticide usage, cropping rotation, fertility information, and harvest data;Manage the building of sugar beet piles, monitor temperature and appearance to report;Coordinate and assist with the compilation of the Agricultural Department Annual Report;Represent Lantic Inc. in the community, service organizations, committees;Participate in grower education meetings and other training meetings;Attend Beet Sugar Industry Technical Training Conferences;Develop and maintain grower relations.WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO JOIN THE TEAM :
Post‑Secondary education in Supply Chain / Operations Management / Agronomy or related field;3‑5 years of Agricultural Crop Production experience and understanding of the industry, including the process from planting through harvest;Advanced knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies;Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset;Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract;Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office;Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is considered an asset;Financial budget preparation is considered an asset;Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations;Ability to show initiative, work with little supervision and develop a team environment;Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage several projects;Ability to engage people according to the Company’s mission and values.WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU :
