ABOUT THE ROLE

TransAlta is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Co-op Student to join our Maintenance team in Sarnia, ON .

In this 4-month role (May-August 2026) , the Electrical Instrumentation Co-op Student will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of maintenance work and utilizing technical expertise in the safe operation of work performed at the Sarnia facility.

This position is safety-sensitive . The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment testing.

This is a Unifor Local 672 position covered by the terms of the collective agreement.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Support safe plant operation by consistently promoting and demonstrating compliance to safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance, and quickly responding to safety concerns
• Regularly follow up on work in progress in the assigned areas to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and schedules
• Ensure personal adherence to Corporate and Sarnia Site policies and procedures, maintenance standards, safe work planning process, maintenance strategies, and consistent application of the Collective Agreement
• Assist in the completion of permit requests and attend permit request meetings
• Assist in Contractor management as required
• Perform all other duties as required
