About the Opportunity
The Orthoptist is responsible for the assessment, evaluation, identification, diagnosis, and nonsurgical treatment of disorders of binocular vision, visual development, and ocular motility for the purpose of improving or restoring function. Tests include but are not limited to identification and quantification of strabismus, visual acuity testing, stereoacuity testing, colour vision assessment, Hess Screen evaluations, oculomotor motility, and prism adaptation. Pediatric and adult orthoptic patients will be seen by referral from an ophthalmologist or neurologist only. (Pediatric screening patients may be referred by family physicians, nurse practitioners, or pediatricians). Reports and summaries of findings, including diagnosis and recommendations, will be sent to referring physicians. orthoptic treatment will be initiated and carried out as required. The Orthoptist has a major role in patient / family instruction and minor role in the instruction of public health nurses.

34.68 - $43.80 Hourly
