Job description

Responsibilities :

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech and language delays or disorders.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans targeting speech and language goals.
  • Provide evidence-based therapy to enhance receptive / expressive language, articulation, phonology, and social-pragmatic skills.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and professionals to create a holistic support system.
  • Use play-based, child-centered approaches to engage young learners.
  • Monitor progress, adjust plans, and provide ongoing support to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Stay informed on the latest research and best practices in speech-language pathology.
  • Providing ongoing training, coaching, and support to parents, preschool teachers, and FB Education Services staff
  • Qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized university.
  • Registration in good standing with ACSLPA.
  • Experience in pediatric speech and language assessment and treatment.
  • Ability to mentor therapy assistants and work collaboratively.
  • Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and insurance with $2,000,000 liability.
  • A willingness to travel between locations
  • Willingness to travel to various childcare campuses.
  • Valid Police check.
  • Preferred, but not required : Familiarity with PUF contracts and experience within Alberta Education.

    Work Environment Requirements :

    The position involves occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting / carrying work-related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers, and presentation materials. The employee must regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must maintain emotional control under stress. This position may require the employee to work some evenings and weekends, including exposure to noisy and / or disruptive student behavior. Potential exposure to bodily fluids and frequent childhood illnesses may occur.
