What Is in It for You : Reporting to the Associate Director, Loans Accounting and Controls , the Analyst will work with a team of individuals who are responsible for supporting the accounting, valuation and operational requirements of the North American Private Fixed Income portfolios for Sun Life General Account and Third Party Investors.
This will include financial, statutory, regulatory, internal and client reporting. The incumbent will further the development of highly efficient processes while maintaining and enhancing a strong internal control environment.
This will be accomplished through a thorough knowledge of accounting, the systems the investments are administered on, and through effective mentoring of the members of the team. WHAT YOU WILL DO :
Accounting and reporting of loan assets for institutional investors including creating daily movement file that includes accrued interest calculations and producing fund trial balances on daily and monthly basis
Perform complex control checks such as trending loan prices, detailed valuation / trial balance analysis and reconciliations to ensure accurate Net Asset Values
Complete Monthly / Quarterly financial reporting and adhoc requests
Act as Data Owner flag and support investigation of multiple systems holding data and communicate with other functions across SLC groups to improve the data elements
Design and create Tableau Dashboard for monthly reporting and trending analysis including key KPIs.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED :
Working towards CPA or CFA designation with 1-2 years of accounting / finance experience
Intermediate proficiency with Excel ability to create, manipulate, and interpret data / spreadsheets and comfortable working with formulas, VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, etc.
General understanding of Fixed income assets
Unique Requirements :
7.5 hour standard work day, however flexibility is required to work 9 : 30 AM to 5 : 30 PM
Certain days during the month / year may not be eligible for vacation days, specifically around month-end, quarter-end and year-end
Perform operations functions during US & CAD holidays
