Supporting the executive group and resort leaders, you will oversee all human resources and payroll functions, delivering employee service accurately and compassionately.
Heads-up... Sitting at 1,110 metres above sea level, our office is on top of the world! The resort has breathtaking views of mountains, islands, and ocean, with easy access to the great outdoors.
To get here, you'll need your own vehicle and you must be comfortable driving in variable weather conditions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
Human Resources :
Provide expertise and ensure compliance with relevant legislation including employment standards, privacy, and human rights;
ensure leaders understand employment responsibilities.
Resolve employee concerns plus labour and legal challenges; ensure compliance with statutory and contractual commitments;
manage interpersonal conflicts, workplace investigations, performance issues.
- Develop, implement, communicate, and enforce employment policies and procedures.
- Participate in compensation surveys, analyze employee data, demographics, and trends; present analyses and recommendations to leadership.
- Oversee layoffs and employment terminations.
- Provide management consulting and coaching to all supervisory levels.
- Participate in industry committees and forums, such as the Canada West Ski Areas Association and Go2HR.
Recruiting, Onboarding, Training :
- Coordinate the recruiting and onboarding to hire / re-hire 1,000+ employees each year.
- Plan and attend job fairs, create / update job requirements and job descriptions, develop regional recruiting resources, train and support line managers.
- Manage Resort online recruiting platforms including ADP Talent Management, LinkedIn, WorkBC, Canada Job Bank, CWSAA, Indeed, and industry-specific sites.
- Prepare seasonal hire and layoff letters and coordinate distribution and execution with leaders.
- Plan and deliver training as required including administrative training, employee orientations, leadership training and personal development for Supervisors, Managers and Directors.
Employee Experience :
- Plan and deliver employee experience initiatives, events, and programs including staff appreciation and service awards.
- Update and brand employee manuals and other communication.
- Lead, execute, and analyze annual Employee Opinion Survey.
- Manage staff housing applications, assignments, payment, communications, and account reconciliations; explore and develop new housing opportunities.
- Manage staff social media forums.
Payroll, Benefits, and Saving Plan administration :
- Ensure timely and accurate bi-weekly pay and always maintain accurate records with standards appropriate to audits.
- Manage vendor relationships including HRMS / payroll platform, employee benefits, savings plan.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system and data functionality; research and resolve payment discrepancies and employment questions;
liaise with third party vendors to resolve service issues.
- Manage and support payroll administrator; serve as designated payroll backup.
- Verify and respond to WorkSafe, ICBC, StatsCan, Service Canada and related requests and inquiries.
- Manage employee benefits enrolments and eligibility; direct annual renewals and plan evaluations.
- Coordinate disability leaves and return-to-work programs.
- Ensure compliance with CAPSA Guidelines for Capital Accumulation Plans.
- Manage sensitive employee information with the utmost care, ethics, and confidentiality, always adhering to privacy standards and legislation.
Preferred Requirements & Skills :
- Relevant university degree or college diploma, plus equivalent experience matching responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge and experience with provincial employment standards, privacy law, human rights legislation, and labour common law.
- Effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven record of being self-motivated, innovative, and creative.
- Must be available to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends.
- CHRP designation would be an asset.
- Experience with ADP WorkforceNow would be an asset.
