Hart House is a centre for experiential education outside the classroom at the University of Toronto. The Finance department is responsible for all financial activities at Hart House, including all day-to-day transactional accounting, preparation of financial reports, payroll, procurement, financial planning and budget preparation and management. The department acts as a strategic partner and resource to assist Hart House management in the running of various student programs, business lines and services, and uses metrics and analytical methods to drive future decision-making and provide opportunity and growth to the organization.

Your opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the incumbent supports the Finance department and Hart House in a variety of financial areas, such as budgeting, information gathering, financial analysis, generating financial reports, forecasting and planning in accordance with University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements. The incumbent also serves as the primary resource to various student groups in support to their financial activities, including supporting Hart House budget oversight and stewardship responsibilities of the Hart House Finance Committee; training and mentoring student club and committee executive members on financial policies and processes; and leading the financial literacy program for Hart House, including developing and maintaining partnerships with financial and community organizations, contributing to program curriculum, determining event logistics, developing content for promotions and outreach, assessing program success, and implementing program enhancements.

Your responsibilities

• Forecasting and planning financial activities incorporating budgets with multiple sources of revenue and / or recoveries.
• Monitoring, recording, reconciling and / or reporting on various accounts, grants and contracts.
• Processing accounts payable according to the University Guide to Financial Management
• Preparing and recording deposits on a regular basis
• Advising staff on accounting practices and University financial policies and procedures
• Advising student groups on the application of relevant policies and procedures
• Generating standard financial reports.
• Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of student seminars and workshops.

Schedule : Full-Time, Monday through Friday from 8 : 45 AM to 5 : 00 PM, with occasional overtime.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone : USW Pay Band 11 $76,577. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation / Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
