Fabrication Team Lead
Overview
The primary role of the Fabrication Team Lead is to perform duties as required by a Supervisor / Senior Production Manager, to coordinate the assembly and fabrication of products. This may involve the use of sheet metal manipulation machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure crew is arriving on time, ready, and fit for duty at the start of each shift.
- Host a morning meeting with crew at the start of shift to delegate work for the day.
- Ensure workers have proper material and tools to complete daily tasks.
- Establish methods with workers to meet work schedule deadlines.
- Ensure workers are wearing proper PPE and working in a safe manner; review any job‑related issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain high quality of work (Quality Control).
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality.
- Ensure workers adhere to company rules, policies, and procedures.
- Manage inventory of material and consumables to prevent sudden shortages.
- Maintain prints and drawings, accurately redlining changes.
- Complete required paperwork and maintain accurate record keeping.
- Set goals and manage time efficiently.
- Demonstrate effective leadership, team‑building skills, and the ability to supervise and motivate effectively.
- Read blueprints and program machining equipment to produce required parts.
- Operate metal‑working manipulation machinery (e.g., brake, shear, saw, punch).
- Organize and keep the department clean; also clean department at the end of each work day.
- Familiarize self with and / or request training concerning new equipment.
- Inspect equipment to ensure good working order.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Silent‑Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Skills
Post‑secondary education in a related field is an asset.3 or more years’ experience as a production, construction, or fabrication lead.Fabrication experience preferred.Experience with rigging, fall arrest, forklifts, and scissor lifts are assets.Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse, and transportation management.Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and / or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code.Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization.Strong customer service orientation.Experience in metal working or forming is an asset.First Aid skills and / or certificates are considered assets.Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes associated with manufacturing from raw materials to finished product.Working Conditions
Commercial / Industrial environment.Manual dexterity required to use necessary tools.Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).Contacts
