The Registered Nurse (RN) in Acute Care works in a Patient Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the patients and their families.
Along with working on the 15-bed medical unit the RN will be working in the Emergency Department. The RN will work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines including LPNs, Health Care Aides, Rehabilitation Staff, Pharmacy and the Physicians group.
The RN provides leadership through assessment, planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of patient care. The RN actively engages in health promotion, chronic disease management and enhancing the patient’s activities of daily living.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.
You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.PLEASE NOTE : Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $ - $ Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS / UNA Article or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required : CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 ( and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (
Additional Required Qualifications :
1-year recent experience up to full time equivalent in a similar acute care setting. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. The RN requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications :
1-year recent experience up to full time equivalent working in an emergency department.Demonstrated critical thinking, effective decision making and conflict resolution skills.
