Junior purchaser position is accountable for performing all purchasing activities necessary to continuously improve the creation and delivery of value to our customers. As a valuable member of the BD Diesel team, this position contributes to the goal of being an innovative and world class manufacturer that serves the North American diesel and gas vehicle industry.
This position is responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services to support production across our brands.
This position reports to the Purchasing Supervisor and takes direction from them.
Pay : $50,000 to $60,000 / year
Requirements
- Manages a Smaller and less critical portfolio. Responsible for our non-inventory production supplies walk.
- Daily Purchase Order Cycle : Reviews Requirements, requisitions, does analysis, creates and issues PO’s, Sends PO's to Suppliers, seeks timely confirmations, updates and expedites PO's as needed and communicates changes with production teams as required Resolves any Receipt issues, facilitates quality issues resulting in NCR's and Warranty RMA's with Supplier
- Sourcing : Generally, orders from known and established sources. May do basic sourcing for misc. production supply requests, otherwise does not actively participate in sourcing activities unless directed by Supervisor
- Supplier Management : Works with suppliers to secure supply and reduce lead times, engages in basic negotiations with suppliers, may participate in but does not lead more complex negotiations.
- Projects : is an active team member in but does not lead Purchasing Specific projects, may also participate in other cross functional team projects such as launching new products, innovation and standardization of best practices and carries out activities in the best interest of the organization.
Education and Experience
1-3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred.Experience with ERP systems (Infor SyteLine, Epicor, SAP, or similar) required.Strong understanding of procurement principles, negotiation tactics, and inventory management.Familiarity with international purchasing, freight, tariffs, and trade compliance is a strong asset.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Self-starter with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.Supply Chain Procurement Certificate from ASCM, CPIM, SCMP, CPSM or CSCP preferred.Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.Benefits
