Geotechnical Technician

ABOUT THE ROLE

Main duty is determination of flow and particle properties of a wide range of bulk solids:

• Managing inward and forward samples;
• Sample preparation;
• Perform various bulk solid testing as per J&J’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP);
• Provide feedback to lab manager and engineers regarding any issues encountered during testing;
• General laboratory housekeeping duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Only those who meet all selection criteria below will be considered for this important role.

• Education: minimum high school diploma is required, degree or diploma (or equivalent) in mechanical related field is preferred;
• Computer software skills using Office (e.g. Word, Excel), email and messaging and have capacity to learn specialized software for data entry/analysis;
• Ability to lift weights 30-40 lb. regularly, up to 50 lb. (23 kg) occasionally;
• Physically able to wear a respirator when warranted. Respirator and training will be provided;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Ability to perform routine bench tests;
• Good communication skills in English;
• Have strong learning desire and initiative;
• Skilled with hardware tools and electrical equipment;
• Team player.
• Valid Canadian Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience: minimum 2 years of relevant work experience required;
• Lab experience in geotechnical and/or minerals fields
