As we continue to expand, we are currently seeking a talented Group Controller to join our head office team in the Fraser Valley.
The Position
The Group Controller position is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on controller who wants to be involved in a variety of areas in the agriculture industry. This is a critical leadership position that requires the oversight of accounting and finance functions for three companies as well as two holding companies.
Responsibilities
You will be tasked with a number of duties that include, but are not limited to :
- All finance related tasks for 3 operating companies and 2 holding companies, including operations in both Canada and the US
- Oversight and leadership of two accounting personnel and the potential development of other accounting staff as required
- Month End and Year End financial reporting and closing
- Treasury management and cash flow analysis
- Maintain banking relationships
- Create finance protocols
- Manage insurance requirements
- Oversee accounting functions as well as payroll processes
- Budget reviews
- Employee reviews and career development of direct reports
- Attend regularly scheduled leadership meetings
Qualifications
Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate the following :
At least 5 years' experience as a controller, ideally with knowledge of the agriculture or related sectorA wide breadth of accounting, finance and treasury management knowledge, and confidence in that knowledgeKnowledge and experience with Dynamics GP or a similar ERPWorking knowledge and experience with reporting tools such as PowerBI and Excel Power QueryAdvanced proficiency with MS ExcelYou love analyzing data and are a wizard at financial reportingStrong background in cash flow analysisAble to juggle multiple tasks and complete projects on timeKeen ability to connect with others and develop teamsSome familiarity with the dairy industry is an assetPost-secondary education in a relevant discipline combined with an accounting designation are assetsHigh level of tact and trustworthinessVery strong leadership skills in relation to managing their team as well as navigating relationships with peers and ownershipThe ability to work within or around the limitations set by other department processes and legacy setupsWhy Join Us?
