Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains strategic plans for the systems maintained and documentation of preliminary design for system enhancements, integration, and development by working with line management and business experts.
- Provides leadership for user work teams and outsourced system maintenance / enhancement providers on on-going system maintenance, enhancement and system development.
Manages the priority of the preventative maintenance plan for existing operations systems.
- Ensures system controls are defined, documented and in place to maintain data integrity.
- Analyzes client requirements and extracts and formats data to generate a variety of specialized reports for internal and external clients.
- Designs and conducts training needs assessment for user areas. Designs training material for adult learners based on training needs assessment.
- Manages large sized projects.
- Provides advice to other system administrators on system interfaces and business requirements.
- Ensures user requirements are met through the design and user acceptance testing of system changes.
- Prepares input for and advises on preparation of business cases. Conducts post implementation reviews to confirm benefits are obtained and reports on findings and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Provides user training and support on planned and existing systems.
- Coaches users in the effective and consistent use of operation systems.
- Conducts special studies relating to operations systems including researching and analyzing information and preparing reports on alternatives and recommendations.
- Participates in the evaluation of internal and external software packages meeting project requirements and makes recommendations on their applicability, viability and potential.
- Responds to inquiries from internal and external auditors and finance regarding operations systems policies and procedures.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties including driving a vehicle which do not affect the rating for the job.
Requirements
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary technologist diploma in an appropriate computer technology, or an equivalent combination of recognized, relevant certifications.
- Four (4) years directly related relevant experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal (with both internal and external customers ) and organizational skills
- Competence in managing multiple large projects.
- Oral and written communications, presentation skills and adult training delivery ability, including the ability to share knowledge and skills with others.
- Advanced knowledge of computer systems operations, environment and peripherals. Advanced knowledge of applications software in use at FortisBC and specialized software in use in the department : SAP, SAP Business Warehouse, SAS, and Energy or equivalent.
- Valid British Columbia Driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain a Passport for out of Country travel
