Fire Safety Officer

The Fire Safety Officer will support the HSSEQ department in a field inspection and office capacity. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and comfortable working within a team environment.

The Fire Safety Officer shall have a functional reporting line to the IMS Director. The Fire Safety Officer shall report directly to the M&R Director.

This role will be based in Ottawa, ON.

Your role within the Team :

  • Assess and Audit field operations against TransitNEXT policy, systems, and legislation.
  • Ability to provide Safety Orientation sessions.
  • Compile statistical information for the HSSEQ department.
  • Enter information into Atkins Realis systems and update all databases.
  • Lead the management of injured workers and the return-to-work process.
  • Carrying out compliance auditing of contractors.
  • Implementing, maintaining, and ensuring the effective operation of the M&R Safety Management Plan.
  • Ensuring that OHS Audits are implemented as planned and as required by the Project Agreement.
  • Ensuring actions are taken to address any non-conforming issues or improvements identified through OHS audits or inspections.
  • Ensuring that a comprehensive and effective training plan is implemented on the Project to provide all personnel awareness of hazards in the workplace and how to eliminate or mitigate those hazards in their day to-day work activities.
  • Maintain the system developed and implemented to verify where specific personnel certifications are required to meet regulatory requirements and that these certifications are in place and valid.
  • Ensuring that safe work procedures are developed and implemented as required to protect personnel from hazards created by M&R activities.
  • Lead regular safety meetings held at various levels of the M&R organization.
