A division of the Population Health and Value-Based Health System portfolio, the Value-Based Care team is focused on several areas of work as part of Ontario Health’s approach to improving population health and creating greater value for patients and caregivers.
These areas include funding strategies that better reflect the nature of patient conditions across their continuum of care, data and analytic products to support OHTs and management of population health, performance and accountability development for OHTs, and value-based strategies to assess and address the cost of innovations, and the future of care.
As a member of the Population Health Data team, the Analyst will be responsible for supporting the development of actionable insights related to population health and / or performance measurement of the health system.
Being accountable for data standardization and reporting, the Analyst will produce information products of varying complexity to describe and predict how initiatives translate to improved health outcomes for Ontarians while reducing costs.
Here is what you will be doing :
- The Analyst plays a key role in the development of base tables, crosswalks and indicators to support Value Based Care initiatives
- Leading the planning, sourcing and acquisition of new datasets to support population health initiatives, in collaboration with multiple teams across OH
- Implementing data governance practices within the team, including leading the data quality processes and compliance monitoring
- Provide support on dashboard development, refreshes and updates
- Develop population health focused reporting products and tolls, including public facing dashboards
- Respond to ad hoc queries, frequent collaboration with stakeholders (internal and external)
- Supports the Value-Based Care team in managing multiple data and analytic work streams across OH
- Collaborate on projects both within Ontario Health and with external partners
- Performs cross-functional and / or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
Here is what you will need to be successful :
Education and Experience :
An undergraduate Degree in Information Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, Health Sciences, Health Administration or Health Informatics or related field or recognized equivalent, is required.
Masters degree in a relevant field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of overall working experience (or masters plus 1-3); experience as an analyst in the healthcare industry is preferred
- Experience in data manipulation and reporting, as well as data governance practices
Knowledge and Skills :
- Strong MS Excel (data manipulation, advanced formulas and pivot tables) a must have
- Experience with SQL and / or analytical tools such as SAS, Pythion, R would be an asset
- Familiarity with BI Solutions, including PowerBI, would be an asset
- Ability to translate analytical results into actionable insights and recommendations
- Understanding of Ontario healthcare funding across all sectors, including processes, reforms and accountabilities an asset
- Familiarity with CIHI DAD and NACRS, OHIP and other healthcare datasets an asset
- Proven ability to establish positive working realtionships with a broad variety of clients, staff, and external organizations
- Stakeholder management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate analytic results
- Exceptional attention to detail
