POSITION SUMMARY :
The Project Manager serves as MasTec Canada’s single point of responsibility for the successful management and execution of a construction project and ensures key project objectives, established practices, procedures, and company goals and requirements are implemented and / or stewarded to during the project. The Project Manager leads the project team through all phases of the construction project from tender preparation, acquisition, pre-construction, execution, and final turnover and close-out. Strong competency in the areas of leadership, communication (written and verbal), planning, scope, contract knowledge and team management are key to this role. The Project Manager must live and actively promote MasTec Canada’s core values while maintaining strong relationship with the clients and other key stake holders on the project.
Preference will be given to those candidates LOCAL to Grande Prairie and surrounding areas.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Act as primary point of contact for all Client interactionsA complete review and understanding of the Client / Company contracts for the projects.Provide day to day direction and oversight of project resources (staff, sub-contractors, equipment, materials, etc.)Establish customer relations and business opportunities as a representative of the Company.Attend pre-bid meetings, estimate packages, and produce proposal schedules, as required.Assist in closing tenders with Estimating Manager or with Operations teams.Ensure the maintenance of project status reports in terms of percent complete, cost to date and ECAC.Document and communicate project progress, performance, and issues to all stakeholders.Monitor the overall progress and performance of the project on an ongoing basis and takes corrective action where necessary.Manage a risk register identifying concerns and alerting management of possible risks or problems with the projects and develop a plan to minimize the detrimental impact.Ensure that all functions and operations on the job are in compliance with local legislative and labour requirements.Manage and coordinate project within budget and in a safe work environment.Implement and monitor the Company’s HSE Management SystemLead the safety awareness on site and champion the site HSE program.Prepare budgets, forecast and reduce risk through managing scope and contract change management.Ensure all scope and contract change is approved by the customer.Oversee preparation of billings, change orders and assist in the collection of outstanding payments.Direct / oversee engineers and interface with Joint Venture Partners in relations to EPC ProjectsSupport and further the company culture, core values, key results and quality managementOther duties as assignedOther Duties and Responsibilities :
Track and monitor the processes required to manage the timely completion of the projectReview and approve subcontracts and subcontract change ordersReview and approve PO’s timesheets, job costs and Client invoicesWork collaboratively with support and operations teams to successfully manage the planning, estimating, budgeting, financing, funding, managing, and cost controls so that the project can be completed within the approved budgetEstablish and support the processes and activities of the performing organization that determine quality policies, objectives, and responsibilities so that the project will satisfy the needs for which it was undertakenProvide leadership to workforce planning, hiring, managing and developing project team members, maximizing their potential to meet business needs and alignment to MasTec’s Core ValuesEnsure timely and appropriate communication to all stakeholders including project team, internal service lines and clientsConduct risk management planning, identification, analysis, response planning, and controlling risk on projectWork with MasTec’s Supply Chain Management team, purchase or acquire products, services, or results needed from outside the project team. Processes in this area include Procurement Planning, Identification of all people or organizations impacted by the project, analyzing stakeholder expectations and impact on the project, and developing appropriate management strategies for effectively engaging stakeholders in project decisions and executionEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Recognized degree or diploma from college or university in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience are requiredPreference given to those with Canadian accredited Professional Engineering licenseMinimum of five years project management experience in oil and gas construction projectsExperience with lump sum contracts and project execution, is an assetKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
