COMMODITY MANAGER

WINNIPEG, MB

Full-Time, Flex / Hybrid

POSITION SUMMARY : As a Commodity Manager, you will manage supplier relationships and develop sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, aiming to drive cost reductions and improve product quality. Your key competencies will support a culture of teamwork, safety, and integrity.

WHAT YOU WILL DO :

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and build strong partnerships with suppliers that ensure optimal cost, quality, capacity, and alignment with company goals.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers, including pricing, rebates, long-term contracts, and tooling costs, incorporating input from relevant internal teams.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to explore new technologies and implement projects that reduce cost and increase product quality.
  • Conduct market analysis and testing to uncover cost-saving opportunities.
  • Strengthen and manage strategic supplier relationships, addressing any business challenges that arise.
  • Lead change of supply sources, ensuring seamless transitions by coordinating with all stakeholders and maintaining a clear project plan.
  • Lead the onboarding of new suppliers, including evaluation, certification, training, and setting expectations.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and sourcing data in ERP System, strategically assign new parts, and proactively address potential future price discrepancies.
  • Lead regular reviews with suppliers to assess performance and continuous improvement, engaging other departments as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments of suppliers to support NFI's supplier risk management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all supplier-related regulatory requirements, including domestic content rules, disadvantaged business goals, trade agreements, and environmental, social, and governance standards.
  • Requirements

    WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL :

  • A university degree in a related field is preferred. Completion of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or other procurement-related education is also preferred. Relevant experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of senior procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate and build strong relationships.
  • Experience in project management and / or change management.
  • Experience using an ERP system, experience with Oracle considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear and engaging presentations.
  • Advanced business analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate effectively across various functions.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • A proactive, self-starter attitude with a strong emphasis on teamwork.
