Job description

Our company has over 60 years of experience specializing in the design, manufacture, and custom fabrication of engineered polyethylene systems for water, wastewater, and storm water management applications. We offer our clients full-service engineering support in the design and manufacture of custom systems to meet their project’s specific requirements.

We are currently seeking candidates to work as Extruder Operators in Saskatoon, SK. The primary responsibility is to operate plastic extruding machines and monitor production lines, obtaining target production yield. On-the-job training is provided. This is a great opportunity to gain knowledge of the HDPE pipe industry for career growth with the company. The location of work for this role will be based at our location on Edson Street in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

This is a permanent full-time position, based on 40 hours per week. Further information respecting the position can be found below.

Extruder Operators will be responsible for operating and running extrusion machinery for HDPE pipe production. Duties for this role will also include, but not be limited to the duties outlined below.

Position

  • Assisting in the line operation of extrusion equipment used to product HDPE pipe in accordance with established procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Packaging pipe in accurate pallet sizes and quantities and document production; identify, transfer, and load material for production.
  • Performing quality checks to pipe products, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and making minor repairs to equipment, as required.
  • Maintaining safe working conditions by ensuring a clean working area and reporting any issues to supervisor.
  • Actively participate in all Health & Safety training and promote a safe work environment.
  • Participate in all 5-S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a high school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in plastic extrusion, thermoforming, or injection moulding.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible to work 12-hour rotating continental shifts or other shifts as needed.
  • Work Conditions

    Please note that this job requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, and heavy lifting.

    Compensation

  • 21.37 to $21.75 per hour
  • 40 hours of work per week
  • 15 days of paid vacation per year, to start.
  • Disability, Dental, Extended Medical, Life, and Travel Insurance. Company pension matches up to 5% of salary.
  • Incentive to all Extruder Operators to earn up to $1.50 for each hour worked, payable quarterly.
