Job Summary :

The Construction Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for a range of construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments. This role is integral in helping clients understand the financial requirements of a project and plays a critical role in ensuring the project stays within budget.

Responsibilities :

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to accurately determine costs.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to assess construction requirements and timelines.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Research and source pricing for construction materials and services, maintaining updated records of costs and rates.
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and identify potential project impacts.
  • Prepare bid proposals, including labor, materials, and overhead calculations, ensuring compliance with all project specifications.
  • Review project documents and assess potential risks to incorporate contingency factors in estimates.
  • Monitor project budgets and adjust cost estimates as necessary during the planning and construction phases.
  • Support project managers and clients by providing guidance on cost-saving options and alternate materials or methods.
  • Maintain records of all bids, estimates, and cost data for future reference.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid G driver’s license.
  • 3+ years of experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
