Job Summary :
The Construction Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for a range of construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments. This role is integral in helping clients understand the financial requirements of a project and plays a critical role in ensuring the project stays within budget.
Responsibilities :
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to accurately determine costs.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to assess construction requirements and timelines.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Research and source pricing for construction materials and services, maintaining updated records of costs and rates.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and identify potential project impacts.
- Prepare bid proposals, including labor, materials, and overhead calculations, ensuring compliance with all project specifications.
- Review project documents and assess potential risks to incorporate contingency factors in estimates.
- Monitor project budgets and adjust cost estimates as necessary during the planning and construction phases.
- Support project managers and clients by providing guidance on cost-saving options and alternate materials or methods.
- Maintain records of all bids, estimates, and cost data for future reference.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.Valid G driver’s license.3+ years of experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role.Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with strong attention to detail.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.Strong organizational and time-management skills.
