Job description

One of our major clients is looking for an Environmental Advisor to join their team on a contract opportunity until the end of 2025 in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Key Activities and Responsibilities :

  • Provide onsite environmental presence to interface directly and efficiently with all operational units, providing guidance on environmental and regulatory matters for site
  • Be readily available in case of events that require environmental support
  • Ensure regulatory requirements and best management practices are met by developing, planning, coordinating and managing environmental monitoring programs and associated external reporting
  • Facilitate continuous improvement of environmental performance through the assessment of current programs for optimization and enhancement opportunities
  • Provide onsite environmental support for incident management (available to respond during off-hours on 4th week rotation)
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments in different seasons to support operations and site regulatory requirements.

Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as environmental science, environmental engineering, resource management or equivalent
  • Class 5 Driver’s license
  • Experience :

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience within an operational setting of a facility or plant
  • Experience in the application of provincial and federal environmental regulations & reporting, environmental performance indicators, and knowledge of environmental management systems
  • A strong background in the management of environmental monitoring programs relating to air, water, groundwater, spill response and waste considered an asset
  • Skills :

  • Exceptional analytical, investigative, and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work within large multi-disciplinary teams with a cooperative team-oriented approach
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortability in a field environment within an active industrial site
  • Organizationally strong, with an ability to manage multiple tasks, a heavy workload and tight deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office, plant information systems, and data visualization tools (PI Vision, Power BI)
  • Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks
  • Schedule :

  • Full-time 9 / 80 schedule
  • On-call rotation for environmental incident support
  • As this position is identified as safety and security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of pre-employment medical, drug / alcohol, drivers abstract and criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results
