Underground Mine Engineering Coordinator (Fly-In Fly-Out)

Reporting to the General Superintendant Mining, the Underground Mine Engineering Coordinator will perform their duties as a member of the Mine Engineering Department and collaborate with other departments of the division.
Given the remote location and scale of the operations, they may be required to broaden their scope of responsibilities and demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in relevant areas.
The incumbent will lead the underground engineering technical team to support and integrate the different departmental visions to achieve the common goal of analyzing, maintaining and optimizing productivity and profitability of the operation.
The incumbent will undertake these tasks while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
In this role, the incumbent will :
- Supervise and coordinate the Surveyors, Mine Technicians, Mine Engineers and Engineers-In-Training (EIT);
- Develop operational and procedural structures to ensure standardization and quality of engineering's deliverables;
- Map, establish and maintain the procedures and best practices for the different activities performed by the employees;
- Coordinate and review optimal mine planning activities including budget, life of mine and 3-month plans;
- Promote Health & Safety by hosting weekly / monthly departmental H&S meetings;
- Collaborate in budgeting, forecasting and cost control processes;
- Conduct various HR activities, including development plans and employee evaluations;
- Collaborate with the Construction, Mine Operations and Study teams as the Doris and Madrid mines enter the construction and development stages;
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and participation to the ORP;
- Implement and promote initiatives following the principles of inspection, planning, decision, execution & follow-up;
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned;
- Hold responsibility of the Mine Engineering Department in the absence of the Superintendent, if / when required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering;
- 6+ years of experience in mining operations;
- 1+ year of experience as a supervisor or team leader;
- Professional designation (P.Eng.) in the Northwest Territories / Nunavut (NAPEG) or another jurisdiction and able to quickly obtain designation;
- Experience in a mining project startup is an asset;
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word &
- PowerPoint, knowledge of Deswik is an asset;
- Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).
YOUR WORK SCHEDULE
- Schedule : 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, AB and Yellowknife, NWT.
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
