Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use and lay out the sequence of tasks Make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, solder, assemble and install metal, plastic and fibreglass pipes, valves and fittings Join pipe sections and related equipment and secure in position Use testing equipment to check systems for leaks Remove and replace worn components and do general maintenance workRequired Knowledge and SkillsCertified Journeyperson Trade Ticket or indentured in the apprenticeship program 2-3 years’ experience reading piping and instrumentation design diagrams 2-3 years’ experience laying out and installing piping, tubing, fittings, and all related components.
2-3 years’ experience installing, testing, and maintaining low- and high-pressure steam and condensate systems 2-3 years’ experience rigging, hoisting, lifting, and positioning equipment.
