Placement Length : 6 months with the possibility of extension

Language Requirements : Spanish Level 4-Advanced

The Volunteer’s Role

If you are interested in volunteering in Peru and love communications, this position is for you!

In this position you will collaborate with each project of the Cuso Peru office and Cuso International as an organization in the creation of high quality, engaging and powerful communications materials (e.g. specific print and digital communications materials) to effectively capture and demonstrate the impact and results of the work generated by our local partner organizations and volunteers.

In this role, you will work in close coordination with the Country Representative, Program Managers and Country Team.

As a volunteer, you will :

  • Support in the creation of content and development of high quality, attractive and powerful print and digital communication materials (written, video, web, etc.) for projects in Peru.
  • Create training materials : Capacity building, providing training to staff, volunteers and partners in the professional use of social media, to raise awareness of our work and our organisation.
  • Write, produce and disseminate stories (written and video) that capture and demonstrate the value of international volunteering and the work that our partner organisations are doing in their communities so that these can be shared with potential donors and the media.
  • Take photos and videos, produce articles and disseminate them on social media and different media outlets if necessary.
  • Collaborate and contribute with other volunteers and staff in their workshops and field visits.
  • Other tasks as required by the needs of the office.

Essential Requirements :

  • Degree in journalism, communications, digital marketing, political science, graphic design or similar.
  • Handling of audiovisual tools (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, A. Premiere, Coreldraw).
  • Video editing.
  • Essential Background :

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Latin America as a communications consultant, graphic designer, etc.
  • Experience in research and interviewing.
  • Skills in graphic design software, video editing, photography.
  • Good interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Creativity, good judgement and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong command of the Spanish language (written and oral).

    Project - Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)

    Cuso International will deliver the Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE) project, with a contribution from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) over seven years (2020-2027). SHARE aims to improve the economic and / or social well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable people, particularly women and girls, in developing countries, to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to increasing the engagement of Canadians in international development and key global issues, this project will aim to increase the performance of country partners to deliver more inclusive, innovative and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality, in support of the action areas of Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
