Linux Systems Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Technical Unix / Red Hat Administrator to support the administration and optimization of one of our client’s technical environment. This is a remote contract and where the candidate is focused on managing and maintaining Linux systems—including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (versions 7.2 and 7.3), CentOS—and working with GPFS storage solutions. The successful candidate will ensure high availability, robust security, and efficient performance across the infrastructure.Key Responsibilities : System Administration : Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (RHEL 7.2 / 7.3, CentOS)Monitor system performance and implement tuning as neededStorage Management : Administer GPFS environments ensuring data integrity and optimal performanceMaintenance & Troubleshooting : Identify and resolve system issues and performance bottlenecksImplement patch management and system upgrades in a timely mannerSecurity & Compliance : Enforce security policies and best practices across the environmentConduct regular system audits and maintain compliance with industry standardsAutomation & Scripting : Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) to streamline routine tasksCollaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams (networking, application support, etc.) to deliver robust technical solutionsProvide technical guidance and support during incidents and scheduled maintenance windowsRequired Skills & Experience : Operating Systems Expertise : Proven experience with Linux administration, specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux (versions 7.2 / 7.3) and CentOSGPFS Experience : Hands-on experience with GPFS configuration, maintenance, and troubleshootingTechnical Proficiency : Strong command line and shell scripting skillsFamiliarity with system monitoring and performance tuning toolsProblem-Solving : Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in a high-pressure environmentCommunication : Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in remote teamsContract Flexibility : Availability to work on a 3-month initial contract with potential extensions based on project needsPreferred Qualifications : Prior experience working in a similar contract or remote environmentExperience with additional Linux distributions and open-source technologiesKnowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks
